Professional Care

At The Cambridgeshire Care Home, we pride ourselves in our qualified care team that provide residents with 24-hour nursing care in a safe environment. We train our staff are to administer care in a range of specialist areas including MS, Parkinson’s disease and diabetes. We operate to rigorous policies and procedures with a robust approach to clinical governance. Our company is very proud to have both achieved the HCIMA accreditation (Hospitality Assured for business excellence) and to be ISO accredited. We have a dedicated Hospitality Manager who ensures that our service standards are second to none.

At The Cambridgeshire Care Home, we offer a wholly tailored care plan. After registering the initial interest a member of our professional nursing staff will meet each resident to undertake a full needs assessment. This enables us to develop a tailed plan that will meet the resident’s unique requirements. Our plan will include details which will help us match the resident to different activities, information on diets and any other requirements the resident needs special attention for. This all helps form the basis of all the future care and support our residents receive.

There are regular reviews of the care plans to ensure that we deliver appropriate care at all times. This is to ensure we take any changes to care needs are into consideration. Every care plan takes in the health care needs of the resident and also their spiritual, physical and daily needs.

Natasha Jackson-Gotham, Relative: ‘I absolutely love your app. It makes my day to receive alerts that I have a post of my mother who is in a nursing home. I live in America and she lives in Ipswich UK. What a delight to see what activity she is involved in. I have been using your comments to communicate with carers and have received almost immediate responses. This app is priceless to me.’

Ashton Wills, Wellbeing Team: ‘myo is a great way for relatives to get an insight of the daily lifestyle and activities programme at First Care Homes. Especially for those relatives who do not get the change to visit as regulars as they would like or who live in a different country, myo is the perfect app.’

for you and your family

Purpose Built

Alongside our core technologies, we provide our residents with an excellent range of themed events designed to our resident’s personal tastes.

You can find our home in Great Shelford, only a short drive away from the historic county town and university city of Cambridge.

At The Cambridgeshire Care home, we pride ourselves in our exceptional reviews. We provide a first-rate quality of service and care.

Alongside our core technologies, we provide our residents with an excellent range of themed events. This Includes tea parties, coffee mornings, reminiscence afternoons, craft sessions, live music and day trips to interesting locations. These are all designed to help each resident feel at home while meeting their cognitive, sensory, social and emotional needs. Some of these themed events are to help raise money for charity which provides a wonderful opportunity to build community spirit within the home whilst making a difference for some very worthy causes.

Underpinning our activity planning is the creation of a ‘Life Story’ for every resident in our care home. Although ‘Life Stories’ were created for residents living with dementia to help create a record of the person’s life, they provided a fantastic resource for understanding and engagement and are now rolled out to every resident who wishes to take part.

We use My Life Software to help us with Resident Life Stories. My Life Software contains a large collection of photographs, videos and music specifically chosen to spark recollections that can be used to form conversations and promote well-being.

Our home also boasts a fully equipped cinema room where Residents can enjoy their favourite films, both old and new. The walls are covered with classic Hollywood movie posters such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s. With rows of comfy chairs to relax in, as well as being a fantastic place to watch a film, the surroundings evoke enjoyable memories of past cinema visits.
